Airbus will launch the first Pléiades Neo Next Earth observation satellite in early 2028 from the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, using an Avio Vega C rocket.
The new programme builds on the existing Pléiades Neo constellation and will enhance Airbus’ geospatial capabilities with advanced imaging performance, including native 20-centimetre-class resolution. The satellite is designed to support both government and commercial users.
Pléiades Neo Next will be fully funded, manufactured and operated by Airbus Defence and Space. Its imagery will be available for a wide range of applications such as defence and intelligence, agriculture, environmental monitoring, maritime operations, disaster response, mapping and urban planning.
Working alongside the current Pléiades Neo satellites, the new system will offer higher revisit rates worldwide, with several passes per day, improved image delivery times and enhanced geo-intelligence services through Airbus’ ground segment and OneAtlas platform.
